Increase CPU + Memory usage

Increase CPU + Memory usage

Postby vkehayas » Thu Feb 07, 2013 11:13 am

I am running the ImageJ plugin in an 12-core 64-bit Linux system.
It is currently only using 1 core and almost zero memory (few tens of MB).
Is there any option to allocate more computational resources to the plugin?

For each area selected the plugin will use only one core. If you want to use multiple cores, then you will need to select multiple areas. This means that you cannot run one area faster with a multicore machine, but you can cover a large area quickly.

In terms of memory, ImageJ and the plugin should use as much as they need, and the plugin isn't especially memory intensive. If ImageJ runs out of memory, then you can modify the "run" script that comes with ImageJ.

If you modify the script to look like this:

Code: Select all
java -Xmx12g -jar $HOME/ImageJ/ij.jar "$@"

it will allow ImageJ to use up to 12G of memory.
